News from 2007

12/1/2007

Today was a great day to be at the park.  The players played in front of, by far, the largest crowd of the year.  The start of the game went something like this "Now batting for the Yankees....number 1...Chuuuuck Thooompsooon".  Without delay, Chuck started the game off belting a line drive through the infield.   Patrick and Zac burned up the base paths with their speed.  Jamie A. and Jaylon both continued their hitting streaks.  Andre and Josh got the fans approval by waving while running to first.   Just wanting to check things out, Austin, our newest player, decided he wanted to play.  There were so many good plays.  Everyone's batting improved since our first game back in October.  We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.

We had a few players missing due to the holiday but for those players who did make it was a blast.  Each player got to hit no less than 15 times.  The weather was much warmer which allowed our cheering section to get rowdy.   Jaylon turned in his most impressive batting performance of the season.  He hit 4 in a row at two different at bats.  Leanne with her usual big stick earned MVP honors with 2 triples and 2 homeruns.  We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.

Today was a cold day to play ball.  With the wind blowing it felt like the middle of winter.  Players and Buddies broke out the long-johns and played through the cold.  There's nothing like warming yourself up with a homerun!  We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.

We had our first homerun ever hit out of the park today.  Rawle lined himself up stared down the pitcher and on the first pitch, launched a high fly to deep left center field. The ball bounced off the grassy hill, rolled into the packed parking lot.  The crowd cheered wildly as Rawle rounded the bases.  Congratulations to Rawle for a big time hit.  Even though we had team pictures taken before our games, there wasn't a shortage of big smiles during the games. Pictures of both games are posted in our photo gallery. We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.

Today we played while the Rotary International filmed.  A lot of player excitement stirred as the cameras focused in.  Our cheering section doubled in size from the last game.  There were a few extra people on the field.  Flash bulbs popped from different directions.  Nothing was going to distract our athletes from hitting and scoring.  Big smiles and lots of laughter was today's overwhelming theme.  Pictures of the second game are posted in our photo gallery. We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.

Today was extra hot but our athletes played on. Among all the exciting action we almost witnessed two out of the park homeruns. The long bombs were hit by Chuck and Josh clearing the infield and landing a few feet shy of the fence. Everyone had a great time. Pictures of both games are posted in our photo gallery. We would like to thank all of our volunteers for your support.
